Resources for 4th and 5th graders
Greetings Students, Parents and Guardians-
The following links and websites can be used to engage students in music during online learning and supply some resources for making music on their own and preview some materials we'll cover when we're back in person again. Please feel free to reach out to me anytime with questions or concerns.
Google Chrome Music Lab is an awesome site with various free apps students can access for organizing sounds and beats in creative ways. There are even options for recording and sharing their music.
This website has numerous online apps for various devices and platforms.
The following are a series of videos I use to talk about different instruments, mostly because they’re from the 90’s but I think they’re pretty entertaining, but be aware the main character can be a little annoying….
Music tech teacher website- This website is pretty good. There’s some games your 4th graders can interact with and lots of stuff they’ll have no idea what to do with. But lots of games they can play.
Jazz Academy at Lincoln Center- Outstanding website for exposure to Jazz. All sorts of mini lessons and performances, highly recommended. Best place to start is the “VIDEOS” tab at the top of the page.
Magic Flute- Fun activity for identifying different instruments by their sound.
Interactive Orchestra- For identifying instruments and families of instruments.
I miss all the students attending school from home but want to be involved as I can. Please don't hesitate to reach out anytime if you have questions about these or other resources. While introducing instruments online is not a recommended method of instruction I can't wait to see students again when the time is right and we'll make music together again. Take care!
