Garfield End of Year Parent letter

June 24, 2020

Dear Parent/Guardians:

We made it.  Now that the 2019-2020 school year has ended, I want to remind you all of some very important information concerning this summer and moving forward to the Fall.

Our schools continue to receive guidance from OSPI and the Department of Health.  As that guidance becomes available, we will plan accordingly.  Our goal is to publish a 2020-2021 School District calendar and Re-opening plan the first week of August 2020.

The Garfield School District has extended our meal service through the month of July.  Our last scheduled meal delivery will now be Monday, July 27.  We are asking that families who want to continue receiving meal service in July to contact the Garfield School by Wednesday, June 29th at 509-635-1331 or email Garfield School secretary Debbie Anderson at danderson@garpal.net.

Elementary School:  If your student checked out a Chromebook or any other school owned materials, please return them ASAP.  All students will move to the next grade unless agreed upon by the parent/guardian and the teacher.

Middle School: If your student checked out a Chromebook or any other school owned materials, please return them ASAP.  All students will be moving on to the next grade.

2020-2021 7th/8th Grade Students:  Middle School teachers will be leaving their google classroom’s open over the Summer.  If your student received an Incomplete (I) in a subject for 4th quarter, they can earn a Pass (P) over the Summer by completing any work they are missing.  We will re-calculate all Incomplete (I) grades at the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year to reflect work done over the Summer.

Thank you all for your continued support of the school and our students through this difficult time.  If you have any questions please call the Garfield School at 509-635-1331.

Sincerely,

Zane Wells

Garfield Superintendent/Principal
