Palouse, WA –Ainsley Sievers of Palouse was named the Distinguished Young Woman of Garfield-Palouse on Sunday, March 26, 2023, during the local Distinguished Young Women program. The event was hosted in Garfield at the School Cafeteria and awarded $8,500 in cash-tuition scholarships, which were contributed to by local businesses, individuals, and organizations.
The scholarship amounts for the Class of 2024 Showcase event were awarded as follows: $600 each to Ella Cuellar & Ainsley Sievers as winners of the Scholastic Category (sponsored in part by TLC Animal Care); $500 each to Ainsley Sievers & Ella Cuellar as winners of the Interview Category (sponsored in part by Palouse Lions Club); $450 to Emma Orfe & Ainsley Sievers as winner in the Talent Category (also sponsored in part by the Palouse Lions Club); $350 each to Ella Cuellar & Emma Orfe for the Fitness Category (sponsored in part by Janet Schilperoort); $350 each to Ella Cuellar & Ainsley Sievers for the Self-Expression Category (sponsored in part by Hemphill Heating & Electric, LLC). Anisley Sievers won the Spirit Award, valued at $250 this year.
The winning medallion was presented to Ainsley Sievers along with $2,000 in cash-tuition scholarships, with $1,500 going to Ella Cuellar as First Runner-Up, and $1,000 awarded to Emma Orfe as the Second Runner-Up, and $500 to Rayona Turner as the 3rd Runner-Up. The Platinum Sponsors for these awards include: Palouse Chamber of Commerce, Helene’s Property Place, LLC, Mark & Ami Kramer, and Palouse Hills Assisted Living & Memory Care.
Throughout the next year, Ainsley will represent the Garfield-Palouse communities and serve as a role model to young people by spreading the program’s national outreach message of “Be Your Best Self.” The outreach program is designed to encourage self-esteem and excellence in all young people through its five principles: Be Healthy, Be Involved, Be Studious, Be Ambitious and Be Responsible. She will also participate in the Distinguished Young Women of Washington Showcase event hosted in Pullman, WA in August. The winner of the Distinguished Young Woman of Washington will then attend the National showcase event in Mobile, Alabama during the last week of June in 2024, for a chance to become the Distinguished Young Woman of America.
